AASC and Pulmedix Join Forces
Posted on May 11, 2016

The Allergy, Asthma & Sinus Center (AASC) and Pulmedix Asthma Care Center (Pulmedix) are pleased to announce the merger of our two outstanding organizations on March 1, 2016. The companies continue to operate under the AASC brand, but Pulmedix will maintain its name, identity, and passion for working with the underserved communities of Milwaukee, where the impact of asthma/COPD is severe. This merger is the natural next step to maintain our position as the foremost education and treatment option for even your sickest patients. Unlike others who skin test everyone and dismiss patients who are nonallergic, we continue to work with patients who present with upper or lower respiratory symptoms until they are resolved or we’ve recommended a treatment path - whether the underlying etiology is allergic or not. Essential to this mission is maintaining ready access with short wait times to appointments, and the use of the shared decision making model of care, bringing the patient and their referring provider into the conversation to help achieve mutual goals and maximize outcomes. Importantly, this merger will also enable us to bring clinical trial opportunities of new, cutting-edge asthma and COPD therapies to those who need them most - patients who remain symptomatic despite the best therapies available on the market at this time.

The Allergy, Asthma & Sinus Center opened in 2003 under Dr. Gary Steven. With locations in Greenfield, Mukwonago and Madison, the practice has recently broadened its scope in the allergic and lung disorders of the very young through its association with Dr. Don Bukstein, who is double-boarded in Allergy/Immunology and pediatric Pulmonology. Further, we have expanded our services to include metal and penicillin allergy testing and a chronic cough clinic on top of our expertise in allergy skin testing, lung function testing, asthma education, chronic sinusitis, food and stinging insect allergy, exercise challenges and medical clearance for scuba. The Pulmedix Asthma Care Center, located in Milwaukee, opened in 2009 under respiratory therapist Dorian James. The clinic specializes in lung diseases such as asthma and COPD, respiratory symptoms such as chronic cough, shortness of breath and wheezing, and allergy symptoms. Both clinics see patients of all ages, and together with our associates, listed above, all four locations offer the full range of allergy and asthma evaluation.

All AASC and Pulmedix’s existing locations and phone numbers will stay the same. If you have any questions about this merger, please feel free to contact the office manager, Tiffany Taticek, CPPM, at 414-529-8500 or manager@myaasc.com. We are grateful to you for the ongoing opportunity to provide your patients with superior care. We are confident that this new affiliation will serve us all, particularly our patients, well.
