Dr. Steven traveled to Manila, Philippines earlier this month to present a lecture on Atopic Dermatitis to the first Skin Allergy Symposium of the Philippine Society of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. Dr. Steven was chosen by the president of the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology to present on the organization's behalf.
The main thrust of the presentation was how to start with simple treatments that people can do at home and determine how and when to step up to more aggressive therapies. He enjoyed meeting and having dinner with the leadership of the PSAAI. He also spoke with Ruby Pawankar, a fellow lecturer at the symposium and a Past-President of the World Allergy Organization. The conversation included how to help international organizations to work together for better physician education and how to increase the availability of new treatments to patients worldwide.
Dr. Steven capped off the trip with a two-day "insider's tour" of Manila and Laguna. The visit was led by two former Mukwonago patients who moved to the Philippines after they retired. They were happy to see Dr. Steven again and glad to show him the best spots in the region!
