Your First Visit to the Allergy, Asthma & Sinus Center

Your first visit may last up to three hours, depending on many factors. Dr. Steven or Dr. Bukstein will first complete a comprehensive history and physical exam. Based on the history and physical, diagnostic tests may be ordered. Tests may include allergy skin testing, breathing tests or rhinoscopy. Based on the test results, the doctor will then discuss treatment options.

Please bring your completed new patient forms that should have been sent to you or along with your insurance card and a list of any medications that you are currently using. If you have had any previous testing done that is related to the appointment, please also bring copies of the results.

If you are having any asthma testing done at this first appointment, please refrain from eating or drinking anything, except water, for 3 hours prior to the appointment. If skin testing will be done, please do not use any antihistamines for 3-7 days prior to the appointment. Please call the office with the medications you are currently taking so that we can provide you the specific avoidance time frames.

We accept most insurances, but you should always check with your insurance company before any medical visit to find any referral requirements or to determine the financial obligations they require. We ask for your copay at the time of your visit.
